Pubs & Clubs
There are approximately 1,600 pubs and clubs in the Region which sell real ale - too many to list on this page!
WhatPub is CAMRA's national online guide, which provides details of these and other pubs and clubs nationwide which serve real ale, and is free!
Use Whatpub.com to search for pubs and clubs, and get details such as opening times, descriptions, facilities and of course details of the real ale and real cider on offer. Being an online guide means that extra functions such as photos and live map data are available.
Go to the Whatpub.com website, search by premises name, place name (or the branch name), postcode or station; then click on the premises for full details. You can also filter the search results for different features. If you see some incorrect or missing details, then click on the "Send an email to the branch" which appears below the list of facilities, and you can then submit your updates. If you sign in as a CAMRA member you can also submit beer quality scores, at the top right of the page.
In addition to selecting which pubs should be nominated for entry into the GBG, each year CAMRA Branches make awards to pubs and clubs and details of these local winners are given on Branch websites (see the Home page ) The branch winners in Cumbria and Lancashire for Pub of the Year and Club of the Year, then go forward for the county POTY and COTY, and those, plus the Isle of Man winners, go forward for the regional awards, and then, potentially, the National awards.
